Service employment at steel works
Longer lifetimes thanks to machine diagnosis

Lech-Stahlwerke are the youngest and one of the most modern steel works in Germany. They make their products, about 1,2 million tons of steel every year, 100 per cent of scrap – therefore simultaneously they are the biggest recycling company in Bavaria. In some plants and plant components of the factory blowers and compressors made by Aerzener Maschinenfabrik are used. Since many years they are doing their job every day – seven days a week, about 330 days every year. In an air separation plant large blowers types GM 570 L and GL 570 LTZ are running and in a pumping set for manufacturing high grade steels vacuum blowers types GMb 18.17 HV, GM 16.13 HV and GM 16.f13 mHV.

Avoid major damages

To avoid unscheduled plant failures, Lech- Stahlwerke have the annual inspection of the machines carried out directly by Aerzen service technicians. First of all the scope of performances required is determined and stipulated in a service contract. This also comprises a machine diagnosis for evaluation of the machine- and bearing vibrations. So we can get an exact idea of the condition of the machines. Target of the diagnosis is to extend the running times of the units, as if wear and tear is discovered early enough major damages or total failures can in most cases be avoided.

Suitable service contract for every customer

Following the diagnosis Lech-Stahlwerke receive a detailed report and a catalogue of recommendations, which is then completed by Aerzen service technicians. The Aerzen After Sales Service developed numerous service contracts, so that every customer will find the suitable variant for his production process: Starting from various partial maintenance contracts via maintenance- up to the full maintenance contract. By the way: In case of a complete failure of a machine the customers can receive a rental unit at short notice via the Aerzen subsidiary company AIR (Aerzen International Rental).
