The future has begun
Aerzener Maschinenfabrik opens new production centre

04/04/2008

This year on 3rd April a new age has started for Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH – one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of blowers and compressors. The official opening ceremony of the new production centre together with business partners, employees and guests has been under the motto ”The future has begun”. Klaus-Hasso Heller, CEO and Christian Wulff, minister-president of Lower Saxony were responsible for the ceremony speeches.

Early 2006 it had already been decided to extend the production located in Aerzen, investing a total sum of 65 million EUR. The first steps hereto had been a detailed planning project in cooperation with the ‘Fraunhofer Institute’ for translation of a new production centre, in order to obtain the announced quantity increase from 15.000 units in 2005 to more than 30.000 machines in 2009. The new area measures a total size of 110.000 m², a surface of 11.000 m² with a length of 165 m, a width of 65 m and a height of approx. 11.5 m within the imposing production centre.

During summer 2006 the excavation work had started, followed by the laying of the foundation stone in November 2006. After a building phase of 13 months and an investment sum of 12 million EUR only for the new building, it could be moved into the production. One by one the new processing centres were installed and started with their operation.
In future, the new standard machines will be completely manufactured here in increased quantities, starting from the delivery of the raw material up to the final assembly of the blowers and compressors, incl. packing. The appeal of the new production centre lies in its innovative production concepts, the manufacture as per highest quality measures as well as an energy-efficient construction forming a worldwide competitive location that can be secured in the long run.

In case of increasing energy prices regarding climate change the energy efficiency of a new production hall was the focus of the new building. Thanks to considerable insulation of the new production centre, the heat loss of the building could be reduced to a minimum, at the same time, varnishing, test benches and further machines have been equipped with heat recovery systems. In addition, the lighting has been installed which depends on the daylight and the aeration system works by means of a heat recovery system. In addition, Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH is planning a biomass power station providing the entire factory with heat and electrical energy.

In 2007 the order income of Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH came up to a record value of 235.8 million, which is an increase of 25% compared to previous year. Also the turnover could be completed with 190 million EUR – a record plus of 18%. The turnover of Aerzen group including not only the parent company, but also 26 subsidiary companies has obtained a consolidated value of 260 million EUR, even 300 million EUR in the field of order income.
Looking back to the last 5 years the order income and turnover of Aerzener Maschinenfabrik have been doubled. Also the present business year 2008 is developing quite positively, as the existing customer orders booked have already obtained a record value of 145 million EUR in March.

The reasons for the fast growth of Aerzener Maschinenfabrik cannot be partly found within world economic conditions. The positive business situation is rather a result of the stronger internationalization and the continuous power of innovation.
In 2007 the new subsidiary companies Aerzen Italia and Aerzen Andina in Columbia had been founded. For 2008 foundation of Aerzen Russia and Aerzen Gulf in the United Arab Emirates is planned. The international positioning mainly in future regions is steadily extended. Looking at the business year 2007 constantly high growth rates can be noted for each region, at the top are Asia and North America.

The consequent innovations made by Aerzen stand for a further success guarantor. According to the company philosophy it is always important to be one step ahead in view of the international competition. The best proof is the new blower unit Delta Blower Generation 5, which had been introduced successfully in year 2006 determining already today the market standard. As a new product for 2008 the innovative oil-free compressor units named Delta Screw Generation 5 will be introduced in the market. Beside the energy efficiency and the reduction of the Life-Cycle-Costs by optimized rotor profiles the new unit Generation 5 stands out by considerable sound reduction, an ATEX-certification, easy operation and maintenance as well as a reduction of space. Further developments in 2008 will follow in the range of refrigeration technique, vacuum- and compressed air technique.

Thanks to the new production centre, including the capacity extension Aerzener Maschinenfabrik lies the foundation-stone for a further successful future. The company vision “being one of the world-wide leading manufacturers of two-shaft rotary piston machines” could be translated another important step forward.
