Delta Blower Generation 5 stands for the new series of blower units made by Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH, which has already created a new market standard.
The innovative series has been available in 10 machines sizes for overpressure applications up to 1000 mbar in nominal widths from DN 50 to DN 200 and intake volume flows of approx. 30 m3/h up to 3,600 m3/h. The range of blower units for upper volume flow is expanded by the new machine types GM 80L-G5 and GM 90S-G5 in nominal width of DN 250. Intake volumes of 1,140 m3/h up to 5,400 m3/h at max. positive pressures up to 1,000 mbar are covered herewith. Motor ratings of 18,5 kW up to max. 200 kW can be installed. In addition to this, series start-up of machine sizes GM 130L-G5 and GM 150S-G5 in nominal width DN 300 will take place soonest. Volume flows of these machines will cover the range up to 9,100 m3/h, overpressures up to 1,000 mbar and motor rating up to 355 kW.
All in all, this new series offers five main advantages for the customers. These advantages are the distinctive criteria to other blower types and led to the name “Generation 5”.
The sound levels of the new series have been reduced considerably compared to the previous generation- on average by 6 - 8 dB(A), and in some cases even more. The sound of the total machinery could also be reduced below 80 dB (A) for the large blowers.
Absorption material was deliberately not used. Thanks to considerable sound reductions, costly special measures (such as special acoustic hoods for example) are no longer needed in most cases.
During the development of the new units, special consideration was given to the ease of handling the machines. The units are now operated from the front. All components requiring maintenance are easily accessible from the operating side (front) as well as from the back side. One of the most important advantages is the new oil system. The oil level can be viewed and checked from outside of the unit while it is still in operation. Therefore, blower shutdowns, process and production interruptions belong to the past. Only for the smallest size in nominal width DN 50 service is done easily from the top through a removable roof panel.
A further distinct advantage for the end user is that absorption material is no longer being used in the base/discharge silencer of the Generation 5 unit in which the sound level is reduced by deflecting the air flow. Absorption material, which is subject to degradation, has not been used in any part of the unit. The downstream system cannot become contaminated when it is used for pneumatic conveying of bulk food materials and the integrity of the foodstuff is guaranteed. In the sewage industry, the blockage of an aeration system can be avoided; costly maintenance expenditures are minimized and production losses are eliminated.
The ventilation of an Aerzen acoustic hood takes place via a mechanical fan installed on the blower shaft. Additional absorbed power and electrical installation costs can be avoided. Additional advantages include ATEX designs applied to Aerzen's ventilation system. Thanks to a mechanical process, it is not necessary to install any ex-proof motors for the fan, which helps bypass considerable costs.
Furthermore, the new units have been constructed by keeping space efficiency and saving in mind. The smaller sizes have had their dimensions considerably reduced. In addition, the installation option “Side-by-Side” is now also available. The reduction of space can therefore lead to savings with smaller installation areas or blower rooms.
Further advantages for the Delta Blower Generation 5 result from the use of the blower stage according to the Aerzen patent of integrated pulsation reduction, the certification of the base support as per PED guidelines and the standard use of energy-efficient EFF1 motors. The base/ discharge silencer is also certified as a spark arrester for ATEX applications, eliminating the need for a downstream spark arrester when pneumatically conveying bulk materials with explosive dust.
The intake silencer filter is positioned to draw intake air from the coolest point within the unit. This guarantees optimal ventilation of the unit even at critical ambient temperatures and thus contributes considerably to operating safety.
With this individual and innovative concept of the new series Delta Blower Generation 5 Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH has reached a development goal that is already realizing future market requirements.
