Aerzen Introduce the Delta Blower Generation 5

05/14/2006

Innovative blower unit made by Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH

Delta Blower Generation 5 stands for the new series of blower units made by Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH. This is the synthesis of the known and successful characteristics of the previous generation with technical innovations.

Aerzener Maschinenfabrik was the first blower manufacturer to design compact units in 1960 and has developed this machine type continuously ever since. Delta Blower Generation 5 is therefore already the 5th generation of Aerzen blower units and represents the successful combination of tradition and innovation. However compared to other blower models this new series offers five main advantages for the customers. Five main advantages that led to the name “Generation 5”.
Compared with the previous generation the sound levels of the new series have been reduced considerably, on average by 6 - 8 dB(A), in some cases even more. Special attention was given to the fact that absorption material within the silencer elements is no longer necessary and therefore not used. Thanks to the considerable sound reductions, costly special measures (such as e.g. special acoustic hoods) are in most cases no longer needed.

During development of the new units, special consideration has been given to the ease of handling of the machines. Easy handling starts with easy installation: The new design units can be easily transported at site, by means of a four wheel pallet truck and/or a fork lift. An integrated service package incl. jack, funnel and initial oil filling simplify the commissioning as well as further service tasks. The units are being operated from the front. All components requiring maintenance are easily accessible from the operating side (front). There is also additional access from the rear of the unit.
One of the most important advantages is the new oil system. The oil level can be viewed and checked from the outside of the unit while it is still in operation without any problems. Therefore, blower shutdowns, process and production interruptions belong to the past.
A further distinct advantage for the end user is absorption material no longer being used in the base/discharge silencer of the Generation 5 unit in which the sound level is reduced by deflecting the air flow. Absorption material which is subject to degradation has not been used in any part of the unit. The downstream system cannot become contaminated when it is used for pneumatic conveying of bulk food materials and the integrity of the foodstuff is guaranteed. In the sewage industry, the blockage of an aeration system can be avoided; costly maintenance expenditure is minimized and production losses are eliminated.
The ventilation of an Aerzen acoustic hood takes place via a mechanical fan being installed on the blower shaft. Additional absorbed power and electrical installation costs can be avoided. Additional advantages offer the Aerzen ventilation system with ATEX designs. By means of the mechanical process it is not necessary to install any ex-proof motors for the fan, saving a considerable amount of cost.
Furthermore the new units have been constructed with space saving in mind. The smaller sizes have had their dimensions considerably reduced. In addition, the installation option “Side-by-Side” is available. The reduction of space can therefore lead to savings with smaller installation areas or blower rooms.

Further advantages for the Delta Blower Generation 5 result from the use of the blower stage according to the Aerzen patent of integrated pulsation reduction, the certification of the base support as per PED guidelines and the standard use of energy efficient EFF1 motors. In addition the base/ discharge silencer is also certified as a spark arrester for ATEX applications, eliminating the need for a downstream spark arrester when pneumatically conveying bulk materials with explosive dust.
The intake silencer filter is positioned to draw intake air from the coolest point within the unit. This guarantees optimal ventilation of the unit even at critical ambient temperatures and thus contributes considerably to the operating safety.

The Delta Blower Generation 5 is currently available for overpressure applications in nominal widths DN 80 up to DN 200. Further sizes and designs (negative pressure, gas, and nitrogen) are being prepared. All in all 9 sizes are available for intake volume flows from approximately 60 m³/h up to 3,600 m³/h and overpressures up to 1,000 mbar depending on blower size. The entire Delta Blower series comprises of 16 sizes with volume flows up to 15,000 m³/h.
With this individual and innovative concept of the new series Delta Blower Generation 5 Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH has reached a development goal that is already translating the future market requirements.
First introduction of the new blower units will be at ACHEMA, Frankfurt, from 15.05. to the 19.05.2006 on the stand of the Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH in hall 8.0, stand O29 – P32.
